Teachers drilled in archery coaching
BY PRISCILLA BEN - LILONGWE: Malawi Archery Association in conjunction with Malawi Olympic Committee is conducting level 1 coaching course under Development of National Sports Systems programme at Bingu National Stadium from 17th to 27th August whose beneficiaries are 21 teachers from different primary schools.

The course is being funded by Olympic Solidarity, an arm of International Olympic Committee and is benefitting 21 participants drawn from schools across the country.
The course is a continuation of coaching courses which were held in June and July in Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Blantyre and the 21 participants were the ones who were successful 21 participants during the previous courses.
“By the end of this course, those who will emerge successful are to be awarded Level 1 Archery coaching certificates and our expectation is that they will impart the skills gained to school pupils in their respect schools they are coming from,” said Henry Sakala, General Secretary for Malawi Archery Association
The programme is being implemented in corroboration with Malawi Schools Sports Association as a way of introducing the discipline to the grassroots, particularly schools, which have proven to be the backbone of every successfully sport .
Facilitating the training is the international archery expert Carlos Ferstus from Portugal.
