SCOM engages former member-graduates to a spiritual retreat

BY PRISCILLA BEN - Student Christian Organisation of Malawi (SCOM) has organised spiritual retreat for its former members who are graduates from various learning institutions, with an aim to return and empower their spiritual life using words which will help them to be good custodians of Christianity as they continue with life after school.

The event themed “Raising an Upright Generation” in reference to the Bible from the book of Philippians 2:14-15, will start from 25th to 27th of August at Nkhotakota Safari.

SCOM’s Organising Secretary for Central Region Chikondi Chabankha explained that they observed that they missed most of the student who graduated from colleges and university hence the idea to get in touch and bring them together for a spiritual gathering and restoration.

“This will be the second graduates’ retreat as we did the first one last year during the same month of August at Chongoni in Dedza,” said Chabankha, adding that the event is a new version of a long on-going program called School Leavers Retreat which SCOM has been implementing.

Speakers lined up in this year’s program include Doctor Magwera from Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), Allena, Robert Matengula, Wells Jeremiah, Patrick Kawudzu former SCOM’s General Secretary, all drawn from different professionals.

SCOM was established in 1961 as a Christian organisation which helps the students to know God through Lord Jesus Christ as their saviour and grow into strong Christian leaders through its various activities across the country.
